The most famous wine of the house was created in 1876 for the high taste demands of Tsar Alexander II. He had a special preference for the wines of Louis Roederer and commissioned the best cuvée to be reserved for him every year from then on. Emphasising its uniqueness, this outstanding champagne is filled into a flat-bottomed crystal bottle. From then on, it bears the name of this noble glass, which shows off its transparency and luminosity to best advantage. The Cuvée Cristal is the trademark of Louis Roederer. Created in 1876, it combines the Grands Crus of the Montagne de Reims, the Marne Valley and the Côte des Blancs.Tasting notes:Golden colour with a warm shimmer. Rich, complex bouquet with aromas of tart candied fruits (lemons), citrus nuances, pollen (white flowers), toasted hazelnuts and Madagascar vanilla. On contact with air, the bouquet develops sweet aromas of pastry as well as smoky notes, which come from the maturation in the bottle. Very tasty on the palate, concentrated and chalky at the same time. An incredible tension and aromatic precision, a perfectly chiselled wine. A powerful, racy and concentrated attack with a velvety, enveloping texture typical of the ripe Pinots Noirs 2012. Long, exceptionally concentrated finish.
