South of Florence is the Tenuta Tignanello. The Antinori family has achieved much with its vineyards, winery and production. Tradition and modernity play perfectly together. This wine has been labeled in the international press as "among the most influential wines in the history of Italian viticulture" and is one of the most fantastic red wines in Italy. The 2019 vintage was characterized by a rather cold winter and a cool and rainy spring. The warm summer and above-average rainfall favored the growth of the vines. The excellent weather in September and October ensured perfect ripeness of the grapes. The grape harvest took place on October 16. The wine was aged for 14-16 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels, some of which were new. The taste was refined for another 12 months in bottle. Awards: - 97/100 points from Falstaff - 2nd place in the top 100 wines under € 100 Tasting notes:Intense ruby red in the glass. On the nose complex, nuances of red fruits such as strawberries as well as pomegranates. This is accompanied by notes of vanilla, chocolate, notes of coffee, caramel and spices. On the palate silky vibrant tannins, round, elegant. Long lasting finish accompanied by roasted coffee and bitter cocoa. Grape varieties: 80% Sangiovese, 5% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aging: Barrique. Soil: Calcareous. Closure: Natural cork. Aging potential: More than 20 years. Drinking temperature: 18-20°C.
